Jack S. Richter, CPA - Founder
Jack’s career in public accounting spans over 60 years. Born in Austria, he came as a student to Chicago in 1955, where he attended Roosevelt University, earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1959. Jack started his profession as an auditor with the accounting firms of Katz Wagner (merged into Grant Thornton) and later with Blackman Kallick (merged with Plante Moran), where he became partner.
After founding J.S. Richter, Ltd. in 1979, Jack developed his reputation in the specialty niche area of German, Swiss, and Austrian companies which established subsidiaries in the USA. Since then, he focused the firm exclusively in this area, later expanding the portfolio to other European countries. Jack grew and developed the practice over the next 19 years, after which he convinced his son Michael to join the firm. In 2010, Michael assumed the role of managing director.
Jack is a lifetime member of the AICPA and a member of the Illinois CPA society, where he served on several committees. He was also a member of the board of directors of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest for over 40 years.
